Exquisite lunch experience at HoJo Bangalore

Bangalore is slowly becoming the top hospitality hub of India if not Asia. Some of the top international hotel chains are opening their branches out here to cater to Indians who have traveled abroad and of course expats and foreigners who come here for long stretches of stay. One such hotel chain which has recently opened in Bangalore is the Howard Johnson hotel which has opened near Hebbal very close to the popular Manyata Tech Park.

On one lazy Sunday afternoon, we were invited to the carefuly curated set Lunch prepared by Chef Dev Bose and hosted by Food & Beverages Manager Mahinder Rawat. It was an amazing menu which showcased the best of the cuisines available at HoJo Bangalore. We started with White Wine as we were waiting for Amuse bouche to be served.

The Amuse bouche was traditional yet contemporary. It was dry panipuri served with sour curd and mint. It provided the right start to a gastronomical feast that we are going to indulge ourselves in!

For non-vegetarians and pork lovers like me, the Salad was Black forest ham with Melon. It was presented very beautifully with greens and just melted in my mouth as it was perfectly seasoned before it was presented to us.

In the starters, one of the best non-vegetarian items was the Mutton Boti Kebab. The succulent pieces of meat were just melting in the mouth as they were barbecued to perfection!

I’m not a very big fan of Italian cooking in general or Pasta in particular but I was quite impressed by the way Ravioli Carbonara was made. It had a rich texture, was very creamy and had the right garnish on it.

While coming to main course, there was option of Lamb or Chicken. Being a lamb lover, I went for New Zealand lamb chop with mashed potato, glazed root vegetable in minty and mustard jus. The meat was perfectly cooked and slid off the bones and the sauce was just out of this world!

For chicken lovers, the main course option was Stuffed chicken breast served with rosemary risotto and pistachio butter sauce. I particularly must commend Chef Bose on the sauce which was created to perfection!

In Desserts, it was very nice to see Chef Bose of HoJo Bangalore catering to dietary requirements of everyone by preparing pure vegetarian desserts for vegetarians in case they didn’t like Egg in their desserts. For non-vegetarians like me, there was no restriction so I tried Basil Creme brulee and Sticky Date Pudding.
